Ashtar grew up in Massachusetts where, among other activities, she took dance and music lessons throughout her youth. She began studying the Spanish language in middle school, the love of which led her eventually to study in Costa Rica for a semester in college where she began learning about Latin dancing. After stress eating her way through college, her mother and sister encouraged her to attend Zumba classes with them in Western MA once she graduated in 2009 in efforts to lead a healthier lifestyle. The combination of catchy beats and funky, familiar steps and lyrics led to her Zumba addiction, so much so that she decided to get certified to continue spreading the Zumba fever! She loves that Zumba feels like a party, not a workout. That's what keeps her coming back for more!

With a background in competitive dance and a love for performance, Carmen strongly appreciates the showmanship, expression, movement, and flow of pole dancing. This is the type of liberating experience Carmen wants to create for her fellow pole dancers. As an instructor, Carmen gravitates towards the more sultry side of pole dancing. She utilizes both fast and slow choreography to help others explore their sexy.
